Lica is a modular hydroponic farming system that attempts at converting urban spaces into agricultural zones. Lica is designed to be used at home as well as public spaces, this is achieved by creating standalone modules that have the ability to assemble with each other and form large pavilions.

Lica is a modular hydroponic farming system that has been developed to transform urban areas into agricultural zones. The system is designed to be utilized in both personal and public spaces, making it versatile and accessible to a wide range of users. The system consists of standalone modules that can be easily assembled with one another to create large pavilions. This modularity allows users to customize the size and shape of their Lica setup according to their needs and available space. By incorporating hydroponic technology, Lica provides an efficient and eco-friendly method of farming that requires minimal resources and yields high-quality produce. Whether utilized in homes or public spaces, Lica has the potential to significantly impact urban agriculture and promote sustainable food production.

One of the unique aspects of Lica is its use of discarded PVC pipes, repurposing them into hydroponic farming modules. Each module starts as a 600mm section of used PVC piping that is blow-molded to create a bespoke profile, specifically designed to house plants and support a hydroponic system. The modular design allows each unit to function individually in a home setting or combine to form larger hydroponic pavilions in urban spaces. In addition to the pipes, each module includes a strip of LED lights, which are connected to sensors that monitor the quality of water and the health of plants. The LED lights communicate this data through changes in brightness and color, providing a visual indication of the plants' health and allowing for real-time adjustments to optimize their growth. This innovative use of PVC piping and LED technology makes Lica a sustainable and efficient solution for urban agriculture, with the potential to transform how we think about food production in urban environments.
